The Dream Job for Video Developers

Monster Hunter cheer gesture and mission-ending victory dance
The cheer gesture/victory dance in Monster Hunter kinda portrays how I'm feeling. ^_^
After several months (really, years) of trusting God with our financial situation, I'm happy to report that K got that contract video game job that pretty much came out of nowhere. Here's why it's so awesome:
  • He works remotely, aka from home, which means he gets to make his own schedule and of course see more of his family!
  • If K wants to get out of the house, he can work at his friend (and now fellow coworker) Shawn's place.
  • It's a contract position where they want him long-term, so if his script suddenly funds, K can more easily take time off for filming.
Where in the world do you find a perfect job like that?? Just like our last encounter with a longer period of unemployment, we waited on God and K ended up only having to submit one resume. It's excellent timing too because I'm in the last trimester of baby #2 and the whole "full-time stay-at-home mom (SAHM)" thing has been weighing on my heart for a while. I feel like the Lord initially put this desire on my heart when Dexter was born, but it didn't come to fruition at the time because my motivations weren't right – I really just wanted an "easier" life of not having to face picky clients and demanding deadlines. Instead, the situation demanded that I continue to work and God showed me that I'm even stronger than I thought.

I know the truth now: that being a SAHM is no less challenging than being a working mom. So I'm not sure what exactly is going to happen next. I'm nearing that point where I need to tell my boss what my maternity leave plans are. AHHHH!! Lots of soul searching ahead, I can tell. But the bottom line is... I'm way excited for K and his amazing new job, not just for the financial benefits but for the contentment in his life. While he wasn't sure about returning to the video game industry, he has never worked on a kids' game for mobile platforms before, and so far it's been pretty cool and satisfying!

Anyway, happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful mommas out there! Will let you know in the next post what we did to celebrate. :)
