OT: A Gamer's Wife's Baby Registry Favs

I think one of the reasons I don't post as much recently is because the core of this blog is about crafting and gaming, and ever since Dexter, I haven't had a lot of time for either. Much of my mind is (rightly so) consumed with all things baby. What to feed him, how many naps he should be taking, what to do when he's cranky from teething, etc. So I'm going to say "screw it" (pardon my French) and occasionally write about off-topic (OT) stuff.

Speaking of babies, one of the questions I often get from first-time moms-to-be is what products are actually necessary versus useless for their upcoming bundle of joy. There are tons of lists online for the best infant car seat, best stroller, and so on, but I found the flood of information to be overwhelming and sometimes contradicting. I wanted to pick a trusted source that had done all the research for me with (hopefully) little bias and just go with their recommendations. So based on the frequently updated Baby Bargains book, the hilariously blunt Lucie's List, friends, and of course my own experience, I present to you A Gamer's Wife's Baby Registry Favs.

A Gamer's Wife's Baby Registry Recommendations

Mind you, it's not a full list of everything you need; it's just my personal tried-and-true favorites that I'm very grateful we own. On the scale of good, better, and best, I tend to go for the middle-of-the-line "better" range in terms of price and quality. For the items that I have no preference on (like our pacifier and baby monitor choices), I just left them off, but if you're curious, feel free to ask or make your own recommendation in the comments. Hope you find this useful!

  1. Oh man, has baby gear ever changed since I was having little ones. It doesn't seem all that long ago I had had my own babies, but there was no such thing as zip-on crib sheets and velcro swaddle blankets five to ten years ago.

I am in a cycle of new babies happening all around me so this is a great guide for baby gifts. Thanks!

  2. Oh I'm glad you find it useful! Yeah, that's what all my "experienced mom" friends tell - the products are so different and more advanced than when their kids were babies. Who knows what crazy stuff they'll come out with when Dexter is 10. O_o

  3. ;) I'm pretty sure I have used 90% of that stuff with my kids.

  4. @mollie - That's awesome! I love it when I go to someone's house and find they have the same exact car seat, Boppy pillow, or even baby toys. Clearly that woman has good taste. ;)
