In case you're wondering who was the lucky recipient of the Miffy bunny amigurumi, that would my best friend Sophia, who is also having her first baby boy on the same exact due date as me (how cool is that?!). She and her husband have these rhyming nicknames for each other that end with the word "bunny" (e.g. "funny honey bunny"), so I thought it only fitting that I come up with a whole bevy of rabbit-related items to make for her baby:
I already showed you close-up pics of Miffy, but I'm especially proud of the special additions I added to this baby peacoat/cardigan. It happens to be K's favorite piece too, probably because he actively helped me in the creative process. I had just planned on making a bunny applique for the outerwear, and when I sewed it on, I decided to tilt its little head ever so slightly to give it more personality.
When K saw it, he piped up, "Why don't you make a giant carrot on the other side so it looks he's drooling over it?" Hmm, good idea but somehow a huge orange vegetable seemed like it would make the whole thing look lopsided. Then it occurred to me: why not make a pocket and put a smaller carrot inside it? Mwahahaha, it's genius!
I had intended to make the cardigan size 3-6 months to match the hat, but the outerwear came out 0-3 months and the hat came out size 6-9 months. Whoops! Should've made that gauge swatch after all. Oh well, I still think it turned out well.
As for the hat, I couldn't find a bunny ear pattern that I really liked so I made my own. What do you think? Should I try to sell it? I've never sold any of my patterns before (mostly because they're either too simple or based on trademarked characters), but I've got this special item I really, really want to buy and it might be a good way to raise funds. It doesn't look like bunny ears are in high demand, especially in the post-Easter season, but might be worth a shot...
Question:
Should I try to sell my bunny ears pattern? If so, how much should I charge for just the ears (since there's plenty of free hat patterns already out there)?

Very cute - your ears turned out beautifully :-)
I've not tried selling patterns (I have a few published free up on crochetme & ravelry) so no idea about pricings. It's got to be worth a try though... I think Ravelry do quite a nice job of providing a platform for selling patterns so perhaps it's worth doing it through there?
Good luck with it if you do decide to give it a go :-)
@Jessica - Thanks for the encouragement! I think I should try to make a go for it because you never know. :) Ravelry/Etsy, here I come!
Aww this set is the most adorable thing ive ever seen. Your so talented with a hook! I can only crcohet the basics, this is such a sweet bundle, your friend will be so pleased.
Ill have to knit you something and send you it for the baby, I dont often get to make much baby stuff these days.
As for the pattern I think you have nothing to lose if you put it up for sale.
@Akemi - Awwww, that's so sweet of you! I feel like I'm constantly making baby stuff nowadays because all my friends are having kids now. I thought I was finally done, but then one of them had a preemie, so I'm rushing to get that out the door!

@GeekTurtle - Thanks for the compliment! I definitely should sell them on Etsy... I just need to get around to making the pattern. O_O
